Fabien Castanier Gallery is excited to present a solo exhibition for contemporary French artist, Ed Broner. The exhibition, Culture, is on view December 6 – January 9 at the gallery’s location in Little Haiti. The show will commence with the seasonal Progressive Art Brunch on Sunday Dec 6, during Miami’s Art Week. This is the first solo exhibition for Ed Broner at the gallery, featuring new drawings and paintings on canvas.
For Culture, Broner presents a body of work produced during the Covid-19 lockdown at his studio in Berlin. The paintings were executed based on a series of 300 drawing studies created during this tumultuous period. Recalling his earliest practice as an artist, these pieces are reminiscent of his old blackbook sketches from the 1980s. The paintings open a dialogue on a variety of subjects, all with a focus on the struggles and confrontations within our current societal climate. Greatly influenced by the media and the events occurring in 2020, Broner reveals a complex perspective on both the hope and despair of modern times.
